Alba Tous participates in the World Retail Congress 2018
Madrid has hosted a new edition of the World Retail Congress, an event that annually brings together entrepreneurs and directors of the retail distribution business for three days.
The congress, which was held from April 17th to 19th, was attended by Alba Tous, TOUS’ chairwoman, at the conference 'Build on inheritance: Win with innovation' that has been developed within the framework of this conference.
The session highlighted the threat of the retail sector from other sectors and geographical areas and discussed the strategies and actions that can be carried out so that brands and retailers remain attractive for the next generations of consumers.
Alba Tous pointed out that although the firm was created in 1920, the exponential growth of TOUS has taken place in the last 30 years. "Our challenge is to never settle and continue working to maintain a leadership position and build a brand for future generations," said the president. One of the keys to the success of the firm is to focus fully on the consumer: "We take the customer into account at all times".
The session, moderated by Marc Schumacher, CEO, Liganova and Publisher, Industry Insider, also had the participation of Simon Cotton, CEO, Johnstons of Elgin. The speakers have put on the table the 3 most important lessons they had learned in the business sector. Alba Tous has explained its 3 maxims in the business world: the importance of location in the retail sector, of having an excellent after-sales service and of adapting to the market with a glocal strategy.
Asked about the future of the sector, Alba Tous stressed that there are two key points to consider: the digital transformation of companies, which will mean a great step forward for the retail world, and the strengthening of dialogue with the customer, which will encourage a better relationship with consumers.
