TOUS donates jewelry workshop materials to the Manolo Blahnik Art School in La Palma

The donation will take place in the framework of the recovery of La Palma, which was devastated by the recent eruption of the volcano Cumbre Vieja.

The Manolo Blahnik Art School in La Palma has formed part of the TOUS Jewelry & Artisans School since its first edition in 2018.

TOUS’ commitment to the Canary Islands can be traced back almost 20 years. TOUS opened its first store on the islands in 2001, where it now has nine outlets, in addition to its e-commerce service.

TOUS, the leading Spanish fine jewelry and accessories brand in the affordable luxury segment, has made a donation of jewelry workshop materials to the Manolo Blahnik Art School in La Palma in order to give support to it in the island’s recovery following the eruption of the volcano Cumbre Vieja.

Amongst the materials donated, lamps, scales, polishing tables and blow torches can be highlighted. The school will use the tables in the framework of its regular academic work or will give them to students who need equipment in their homes or to start-up businesses.

TOUS’ thinking behind this donation is to assist the school in its work despite the difficulties caused by the volcanic disaster, in addition to reinforcing its commitment to the future of the jewelry sector and to the schools it works with around the world as part of the TOUS Jewelry & Artisans School training program.

The Manolo Blahnik Art School in La Palma was the first school to join TOUS’ training program in May 2018, with the aim of not only making an impact on the students’ theoretical background, but also to strengthen their ties with the job market as it provides them with internships in a renowned working environment, all of which will broaden their future job opportunities.

The initiative was established in 2018 as part of the brand’s commitment to fostering the preservation of an age-old trade. Under the guidance of mentors with long-standing experience in the company, the young students learn about the value of restoration and its techniques, as well as about the importance of giving a second life to jewels, thus teaching them that jewelry is a trade in which sustainability is at the heart of everything.

Due to the emergency health situation, the TOUS Jewelry & Artisans School taught the last edition of its program in a totally digital format, as did the Manolo Blahnik Art School. TOUS hopes to be able to return to face-to-face teaching as soon as possible, provided the health situation allows this. Meanwhile, training will be given online.
